Garden Club
It's that time of year again! Our seedlings are growing in second and third grade classrooms as well as at the Schenectady Green House. Look for a letter to come home sometime next week with sign up information to participate in this year's garden. If you have gardened with us in past years, things will be a little different. The program will be open to all grades. We will plant in the spring and harvest over the summer with all produce going to the City Mission soup kitchen. Each child's family will be required to pick a week over the summer to tend the garden and deliver any produce that is ready to City Mission. Looking forward to getting our hands in the dirt with you again!
Time to order for the two flower fundraisers will be ending soon. The last day to order Mother’s Day Flowers is May 4th and the Flower and Veggies is May 7th.
Yearbooks
It's not too late to get your 2017-18 Birchwood Yearbook. The cost is $25 per copy. Please send order and payment payable to Birchwood PTO to Millie Gnatek.
Niska-Day
Niska-Day is coming up on Saturday May 19! Does your student want to march with Birchwood? Look for the permission slip and Spirit wear info in backpacks soon!
Friends of Music (FOM) update
Please mark your calendars! The Birchwood Spring Concert is on Thursday 5/17/18 at 7pm (children should arrive by 6pm) at the High School in the auditorium. It will include orchestra, band and chorus. Congratulations to all the 4th and 5th graders in all your progress this year!
Do you enjoy the music programs here at Birchwood for our students? Music for kindergarten through 5th grade, introduction of orchestra and band instruments, and voice singing? If you are interested in helping support our music program here at Birchwood, please let me know. I will be ‘retiring’ in about a month at the end of this school year, as my daughter will be graduating from Birchwood. I’m looking for someone (or you and a friend) to take over my Friends of Music (FOM) Liaison role. Friends of Music really supports our students at each school and at all levels. We need your support to keep giving our students the best musical experience that we can. Email me if you have any questions about FOM or if you are interested! (oconnkl@verizon.net). It’s a really simple and great way to support the music program in our schools.
