BIRCHWOOD NATURE PARK
AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM
Sponsored by Birchwood PTO
October 22, 2019
Trail Maintenance & Garden Cleanup
After a bountiful garden season and before winter descends upon us in earnest, let's all gather to help tidy up the Birchwood Nature Trail and Garden Beds. This will be a hands-on, get dirty program, and there will be lots of ways for students to participate! We'll prepare the raised beds for winter by removing weeds and plants, and by mulching the strawberry beds. We'll pick up trash from the Birchwood Trails and Forest Classroom, clear any fallen branches/limbs, and resurrect the 'lost' middle trail! And if we have enough parent volunteers, we'll also clear the thorns and vines from the entrance to the Nature Park. This program promises to be a great afternoon of fun 'work'.
Students should dress appropriately for the trail (no open toed shoes/sandals please, and be prepared to get a little dirty) and the weather (lite rain or shine).
Birchwood Students in Grades K-5 are invited to participate.
