1000 Book Club

Welcome to a New Year of 1000 Book Reading and to all of our new readers! Included below are a few reminders regarding the program.

AVAILABILITY

Everyone's completed sign out forms should be included in the green binder located on the cart. Bags may be exchanged on school days from 9AM - 8PM.
We recommend that you DO NOT attempt to exchange bags from 1:45PM - 2:30PM as that is the school dismissal time.

LOCATION

A selection of bags will be located on a small cart in the vestibule.
During school hours, you may obtain a visitor pass to enter the building to access all available bags.

CHECKING OUT BAGS

Select a green zippered bag from the cart or bag rack.
Locate the program binder that is located on the cart, find the prepared form for your child.
On the form, locate the line that corresponds with the bag number you have selected (this number will be written in silver on the side of the bag). Write the current date in the “Date Checked Out” column.
Go home and enjoy your bag! **Given the popularity of the program, we appreciate if each child/family would return their loaned bag within 2 weeks.**

RETURNING BAGS

Locate the program binder that is located on the cart, find the form for your child.
On the form, locate the line that corresponds with the bag number you are returning (this number will be written in silver on the side of the bag). Write the current date in the “Date Returned” column. As you complete a bag, place an “X” through the numbers in numerical order on the bottom of the form. This will assist with tracking your progress toward milestone achievements.
Place the bag back on the corresponding numbered hook on the cart. Please DO NOT place bags on the floor or on top of the issues bin.

MILESTONE ACHIEVEMENTS

For those children that achieve a milestone (25,50,75 or 100 bags read) prior to beginning First Grade, they are eligible to receive a prize. The blank milestone achievement sheets (GREEN) are included in the front of the program binder.
Complete the milestone achievement sheet with the requested information and place in the folder located in the bin on the lower level of the cart. Alternatively, you can email the same information to 1000book@birchwoodpto.org.
The prize will either be sent home with an older sibling that currently attends Birchwood or left on the cart labeled with your child’s name.

If possible, please take a photo of your child with their prize and email to 1000book@birchwoodpto.org, and we may include them in the yearbook!
