BIRCHWOOD NATURE PARK AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

Sponsored by Birchwood PTO

October 18, 2018

Natural Mandalas

A mandala is a circular structure with radial symmetry, meaning that the design radiates out symmetrically from the center. It is one of nature’s more wonderful and perfect patterns, and can be found in flowers, tree rings, the sun, eyes, snowflakes, spiderwebs, sea shells, seeds, fruits, succulents, and more. After some introductory discussion, students will divide into small groups to explore the Nature Park where they will collect natural materials with which they will create their own Natural Mandalas.

Participating students should dress appropriately for the trail (no open toed shoes/sandals please) and the weather (rain or shine).

Students in Grades 3-4-5 are invited to participate.

This program will begin at dismissal, and will conclude at 3:15 PM

Please pick up your student after the program at the Nature Park Trailhead Sign. Students that normally attend Kids' Time will be escorted back to the cafeteria after the program concludes.
