There will be plenty of opportunities to volunteer throughout the year if you're not able to take on a chair position. If you have any questions, please reach out to the Birchwood PTO board.

Website Manager
Work with the executive board to maintain, update, and manage website content on a regular basis.

Back to School Carnival (September 25)
Work with PTO Board to plan, organize and execute this school-wide welcome event 9/25/26 including food, bounce house rentals, promotion, etc.

Pre-School Program
Coordinate pre-school outreach program with school principal, librarian and music teacher. Schedule teachers and district staff as speakers for parent presentations; arrange end of the program bus ride. This program runs for 6 weeks in the spring, approximately 45 mins during school hours.

1000 Book Club
Work with school librarian to manage free book borrowing program among area preschoolers; arrange kick-off event; monitor condition of books, bags, and check-out system on a monthly basis.

Faculty & Staff Appreciation

Staff Appreciation Breakfast (October 16)
Order catered breakfast for teachers and staff. Set up breakfast in the cafeteria, provide to-go breakfast for bus drivers, enlist volunteers to help set up and welcome teachers.

Select a restaurant and menu for staff and bus drivers. Have the lunch set up by 11 a.m. and bus driver meals ready to go at 10:35 a.m. A budget will be provided. Recruit volunteers to help set up, staff the lunch and clean up.

Teacher Appreciation Week (May 3-7)
Plan and organize events to support teachers and staff during Teacher Appreciation Week. This can include lunches/breakfasts, Kona Coffee truck, and other treats.

Fundraising

Boosterthon (October 16)
Work with the VPs of Fundraising to develop a plan for this year’s Boosterthon Glow Fun Run. Enlist sponsors to help reach goals, create T-shirt sponsorships to be listed on the back, and create a sign-up for help with each grade, etc.

Holiday Wreath Auction (November 16-December 11)
Work with the PTO board and Birchwood staff to organize the wreath auction. Teachers and staff decorate wreaths that are then available for students and families to bid on.

Nominating Committee

The nominating committee, through written and/or electronic notice, shall inform the membership that it is soliciting and accepting nominations for officers for the next school year. This committee, after careful consideration of the qualifications of each nominee, they shall select one nominee for each office. This slate would then go out to membership for a vote. 

Committee will be comprised of 1 chairperson, a teacher, and up to 3 additional members.  Executive Committee members are not eligible to serve on the Nominating Committee.
